Mission and Governance

Who we are

The Community of St. Anthony’s is a non-profit association (ASBL) that serves as a parish under the Vlaamse-Brabant Vicariate of the Archdiocese of Mechelen-Brussels. We provide liturgical, catechetical, spiritual and pastoral support to the English-speaking expatriate Catholic community.

What we do

Our aim is to bring together the English-speaking Catholic community, encouraging them to live and grow actively in their faith. Through the preaching of the Word, the celebration of the sacraments, and a variety of devotional and formative programs, we seek to help our community become rooted and built up in Christ (cf. Colossians 2:7).

How do we do it

We welcome everyone with genuine joy and warmth, offering a place of worship and community. Through our liturgies, hospitality, catechetical programs, and community-building activities, we create a spiritual home where people can belong, where faith is shared and nurtured, and where everyone is encouraged to engage in the life of the Church.

Governance

The Community of St. Anthony is registered as a non-profit association (ASBL), whose management is entrusted to a board of directors. The board of directors have the authority and responsibility to oversee the management of this community. The administration and upkeep of the community is ensured through two other bodies namely Parish Pastoral Council and Parish Financial Council. The members of these bodies are appointed by the President of the board who is the priest in charge of the community.

The auxiliary bishop of the Vicariate of Vlaamse-Brabant entrusted the pastoral care of St. Anthony’s Community to the Dominican friars of Belgium and Netherlands. Four Dominican priests are appointed in solidum to serve in various capacities to meet all pastoral and administrative needs of the Community.
